CORRESPONDENCE.
MR ABRAHAM ON THE COMING ELECTIONS. _
10 THB BDITOB OF THE STAB,
Sir,—You will, I hope, pardon me for referring again to the Harbour Board election; but it seems to me necessary to emphasise the fact thai, neither Palmerston nor Feilding are specially interested in the election as long as capable members are returned. Any legislation passed mustqithor benefit or harm both places equally. The important point is that the incidcnoo of taxation should be fairly apportioned over all classes ol t_ho district. It is only fair and reasonable, therefore, that tho pastoralists should be represented on a Board which is mainly comprised of city representatives, and Avho naturally do not feel called on to study specialty the interests of the farming portions of tho community. The fair allocation for this district should bo that one member should represent the importers, as Messrs Cohen and Cobbe do, and the other the exporters and producers. The latter position i claim to fill better than cither of the other two gentlemen. The Palmerston v. Feilding bogey should not be allowed to influence the election.—i am, etc.,
R. S. Abpaham. Palmerston North, April 15.
