CONCERT AT RONGOTEA.
.A. The Feilding Choral Society gave a concert at Bougotea last night, in aid of its funds. From a musical point of view, the concert could be considered a success, as there were no items on the programme which were not of good quality, and the execution of the various contributors left little to be desired. The first item was the chorus, "And the Glory," from the "Messiah," given by a chorus of thirty voices, and was followed by a song, "The Kose, The River and the Sea," by Miss Bray. Mr Hood rendered a violin solo with such good expression and taste that he received an encore. "Watchman, What of the Night?" a duet by Messrs H. B. Strange and Temple White, was well received, and Miss Corrigan sang Mascogni's "Aye Maria." A chorus, "Achieved is the Glorious Work" ("Creation") was followed by a .song, "Last Night," by Mrs J. B. Pickering (encored). After an interval of five minutes, "Lift up your Heads," a chorus from the "Messiah," waß rendered with success by the members of the Choral Society- Miss Barley (Sandon) gaye 1 a song, "The Wreath, and My Rosayy/ 1 very nicely (encored), and the chorus, "The Heavens are Telling" ("Creation") followed. A song, "Down the Vale," by Mr H. B. Strange, was well received. "Good Night, Beloved," a double quartette, proved a good item, and "Sweet and Low," by the same artists, pleased the audience. Miss Grove sang the pretty song, "T.hee Green Bonnets " with good feejing, and was encored. The concert was broiight to a close with the appropriate "Hallelujah" chorns ("Messiah"). Tjie accom panjsts were Mrs A. Richmond and Mr H. T. White.
