CARTHEW'S ARCADE.
This fine new building, which has been built by Mr W. Carthew, is now open, and fully stocked from floor to ceiling. In an inspecton made by our representatve this^ggek, it was noted that the^ capacious* "structure gives amploJ9k&. for the full dig;, play of all the many and varied articles disposed for sale. The upstairs part is approached by a broad stairway, well finished, which gives a tasteful look to the shop. On the upper floor are kept books and stationery, toys, etc. The proprietor evidently has a high opinion of the literary tastes of the community, for the stock of books comprises 12,000 volumes, including fiction, biography, poetry, religious, scientific works, etc., and a big assortment of books in bindings suitable for presentation. There is also a good stock of picture books for children. The stationery and toy department is replete*with the best ' and most useful goods. There are also on view sporting requisites, such as footballs, hockey sticks, and the like, and physical culturists need go no further for a stock of Sandow developers, springs, etc. Mr Carthew has lately added pianos to his stock-in-trade, and is ready to dispose of tho best instruments, of English make, procurable. The shop has four large plate glass windows, and has two entrances. Mr Carthew's is one of the oldest business firms in Feilding, and it has grown with the town. The requirements of the district are well known and catered for, and customers can always depend upon the class of goods they buy from Carthew's Arcade.
