Owing to the continued Labour trouble with the San Francisco Union, the ironworks are unable to complete the armoured cruisers for California, and the Government has been compelled to complete the vessels. INDIAN UNRfcST. Calcutta, May 22. The Manipur State, in the North, which has been under the direct control of the Indian Government since the massacre of 'British officials in 1891, has now been transferred to a native ruler. Seditious emissaries are circulating reports that the Punjab Government poisoned wells, causing a plague. Wild excitement prevails in the villages near Lahore, and two emissaries have been sentenced to eighteen and twenty-four months' imprisonment respectively. THE WHEAT MARKET. New York, May 22. Owing to bad drop reports, the quotations for July wheat advanced to 108| cents, and September wheat to 108| cents on the New York market, and to 102 and 104 cents respectively on the Chicago market. Profit taking subsequently caused a decline of one cent, and the markets closing unsettled. SUEVIC'S FLOTSAM. Hundreds of peasants on the Cornish coast are clearing the rocks of the Suevic's wool.
