The Gentlemen requiring to make 188 runs to win went in the second time, but owing to the splendid howling of the Australians only succeeded in scouring 141, the visitors thus iron the match by 46 runs. In the Gentlemen* second innings the highest scorers were Grace, c 30 ; Studd, b 23 ; Lucas, b 21 ; Steel, c and b 22.
