TOMORROW’S OBSERVANCE

PARADE ASSEMBLES AT 2.15

MARCH TO STRAND THEATRE

The 27th anniversary of the landing of the New Zealand Division on Gallipoli' Peninsula will lie commemorated throughout New Zealand tomorrow.

PUKEKOHE’S ARRANGEMENTS

Pukekohe will honour the occasion with a special combined service in the Strand Theatre at 2.30 p.m., when the speakers will be the Mayor, Mr M. R. Grierson, Mr W. S. Cook, of Glevedon, representing the Returned Services’ Association, and Pastor G. H. Barton, the recently inducted minister of the Pukekohe Baptist Church. The Rev. W. G. Slade, the Rev. F. E. H. Paton, and Captain I. Simpson (Salvation Army) will also take part in the service. Appropriate hymns will also be sung. After the service the ceremonial laying on of wreaths will take place at the memorial gates. A pre-service parade will take place. Units taking part will assemble in front of the Borough Chambers in Edinburgh Street at 2.15 p.m. in the following order: Military band; an army detachment, returned soldiers,, Pukekohe Technical High School Cadets, Pukekohe Municipal Band, Home Guard, Fire Brigade, Lodges and the military squad of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary.

The parade will be under the command of Captain W. W. Horwell, M.M., E.D.

Pukekohe and district returned soldiers are invited to parade at the drill hall at 2 p.m. Medals, decorations and poppies are to be worn. A service will be held in the Buckland hall at 11 a.m. after wreaths have been deposited at the Memorial. The speaker will be Captain White, M.C.

Bombay will hold its service at the recreation ground at 2 p.m. Members of the Home Guard and detachments from the Territorials will parade.
