THE NATIONAL PARTY
PAPAKURA WOMEN MEET OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR The annual meeting of the Papakura Women’s Branch of the Franklin National Party, was held in the Parish hall, Mrs E. Busing presiding. Mrs Busing stated it was very gratifying to members to see their hard work rewarded by the success of Mr J. N. Massey at the poll. The speaker expressed the opinion that the interests of the branch would perhaps be furthered if occasional meetings were held with a good speaker to address them on current political topics, rather than too many social functions. A vote of thanks was accorded to all those who had helped the branch during the year, and to the retiring officers. The financial statement disclosed a hearihy position. The officers elected were as follows: Chairman, Mrs E. Busing (re-elected) ; vice-chairman, Mrs R. Urquhart: secretary and t reasurer, Mrs J. L. Munro; committee. Papakura, the Mayoress (Mrs S. Evans)' and Mrs D. McLennan: Karaka, Mrs E. A. Urquhart and Mrs H. B- Lindesay; Drury. Mrs W. Draper and Mrs A. Walker: Opaheke, Miss Thorpe: delegate to Franklin committee. Mrs R. Urquhart.
