LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
PROTEST BY MARIST. NOT SUSTAINED. The nialch last Saturday between the local third intermediates and MarIs t.s was the subject oi' a protest by the losers. A Papakura player was alloyed to be overweight but when lie appeared before the League management committee last evening he weighed Iwo lb. below the weight limit. Marist's protest was therefore disallowed. It was unfortunate that, both the second grade ami third open learns withdrew from the knook-oul competition last Saturday. The lateness of the season finds a number of players unable to "leave their farms now that the milking season is with them. However, il should have been possible to Held one learn from the players available instead of sueb an unceremonious withdrawal.
