ANGLICAN CHURCH AFFAIRS
HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICES
The Anglicans at Christ Church, Alfriston, kept last Sunday as the harvest festival. The Rev. Jasper Galder conducted Matins and preached, a good congregalion being present. Mr I Galder was very outspoken in conj demning the evils of the day and the ! causes of the present economic disi tress. He gave some Idling illus-
trations of 1110 social work which the Mission is doin r g and of the. conditions under which people are living in Auckland. His address made a profound impression. Evensong was conducted by the vicar and the Rev. A. J. Beck, lately vicar of Sf. Luke's, Mt. Albert, was the preacher. Mr Beck gave an interesting sermon from the text. "The Lord God planted a garden." At both services the singing was hearty and congregational. Mrs H. Marx presiding at the organ and being supported with a strong choir. There were good congregations. The harvest gifts were sent to Auckland City Mission for distribution.
