COMMITTEE'S REPORT

The Papakura Town Board works committee reported as follow at Monday evening's meeting: "Water works: Installed a meter to a. property in East street. Repaired the air pump at the filters and renewed worn copper fittings.

"General works: The intersection of "Railway street west and Avcrill street , has been repairer! with eolfix, and a further chain of eolfix sealing- has been clone in Averill street. Sealing shoulders. Great South Road: This work ; has been carried out. on the western side from Elliott street to opposite | Robbing's garage. Hunufi road: The drain from Settlement road to the ; creek at, Croskery's bridge has been cleaned out. East street: Prom WelI lingfon street to Nelson street, the footpath has been cleaned and a little I metal waste placed on it. Walter's place and Don street: The footpaths have been cleaned and dressed with metal sand. Stock routes: The fences | have been again repaired. Averill ! street:' The sides of the road and ; footpaths have been cleaned. Plunket J street: The footpath has been cleaned. Young's road: The footpath is receiving attention. Two men have been i employed at the school grounds and three by the beautifying society. Grad- ! er work: The grader has been used on I Till, Hunua and Clevedon highways. ; Bathing sheds have had attention and j the town has had the usual weekly • gutter clean up. i "Proposed works: It is proposed ; during the coming fortnight to con- | tinue Young's road footpath. Plunket I street footpath. Arawa street footpath I and Beach road footpath. It is proj posed to dig the blackberries on I Young's reserve and eolfix shoulders i of Great South Boad where required. I j It is proposed to clean gutters on Great j j South Boad and carry on general work, j • Drainage at western end of Beach i j road: The committee has inspected the ! | western end of Beach road and would I recommend that if consent is forth - | coming from the owners, that the pond j on the northern side of the road be j drained off through private property, |at an estimated cost of £5. General I conditions: The works committee has carefully inspected the district and is ! of opinion that footpaths and drains ' are in fair order to meet the require- ! ments of the approaching winter. Bend at northern boundary: The committee wish to carry out some further investigations in respect to this before presenting its report. Purchase of pipes: The foreman reports having visited the Brick and Tile Company at New Lynn. The company has a quantity of 15-inch earthenware pipes of No. 3 qualify but has no farmers' auality pipes for sale. After negotiations, the foreman was able to obtain an offer according to the quotation submitted in writing by the company. It has informed the foreman that it will be imposible to secure another lot at, the same reduced price." The report, was adopted.
