HIGHWAY DELETED.

TUAKAU TO POKENO.

BOARD MEMBER'S CLAIM

A statement that the WhangarataPokeno road had been deleted from the list of main highways was' contained in a letter to the Tuakau Town Board on Tuesday evening from Mr G. Arrowsmith, who was unable to attend the meeting. j* Mr Arrowsmith expressed the opinion that determined efforts should be made to have the road gazetted as a main highway, so that in the event of funds becoming available at any time it could be one of the roads on which the subsidy could be obtained. The clerk, Mr M. R. D. McGahan, reported that the Franklin County Council had not received such notification and did not think the board would revoke the declaration of the road.

"The Tuakau-Pokeno, via Whangarata, road was declared a main highway by a notice in the New Zealand gazette on January 21, 1932," said the T Franklin County Council clerk, Mr Alan P. Day, when seen by a Times reporter this morning. "The council does not anticipate that the . Main Highways Board will rovoke the declaration of this road."
