OBITUARY.
MR JOHN LOGAN.
SIXTY-FIVE YEARS A COLONIST
The death, of Mr John Logan, formerly a well-known settler of Tuakau and Onewhero, removes another of the very few remaining passengers of the ship Dauntless, nearly all of whom settled in Patumahoe, Pukekohe or The Dauntless arrived in Auckland in May, 1864, after a long and exciting voyage, the story of which has been told in these columns. The new settlers remained in Onehunga for some months before being put on the lands allotted to them Mr and Mrs Logan ultimately settling down at Tuakau. Later Mr Logan and his family moved out to Onewhero, where they took up land and opened a store. Nearly twenly years ago Mr Logan retired from active life and went to live in Tuakau, where they stayed for a number of ■'•■years; 'Mr Logan, after his wife's death removed to Auckland. He had reached the age of 86, and is survived by a family of ten, five sons and five daughters.
