PAERATA POST OFFICE.
TRANSFERRED FROM STATION. The Paerata post office, in the course of a few days, will be transferred from the railway station to Messent’s store. The business at Paerata has increased considerably and the settlers requested the Postal Department to shift the office. They felt that it was not convenient to send children to the railway station. There was always the fear of accidents. The railway officers are always busy on the arrived and departure of trains and have not time to attend to post office matters. A requisition was sent to the Postmaster-General asking him to shift the office, and Mr Dansey, the Pukekohe postmaster, was sent to investigate the matter. He inquired fully Into the request, «nd interviewed several persons, and upon his recommendation the department agreed to establish the post office at Messent’s store. It is expected, if the business continues to increase, that a telegraph and money order office will soon be necessary.
