DE GAULLE’S SPEECHES
FRENCH GOVERNMENT PERTURBED POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE EMBARRASSING LONDON, April 2. The French Government is reported to be seriously perturbed by the political significance of the series of speeches which General de .Gaulle is now making. His next will be at Strasburg on Monday. The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ Paris' correspondent says some Ministers are urging that the Government should not be represented at the functions, at which General de Gaulle makes political speeches, but others hold that, as France’s liberator, he is entitled to special consideration. ‘ The Times ’ correspondent says that posters 10ft high announcing the Strasburg speech, with the great uniformed figure of General de Gaulle set against a map of France, appear-xl on the walls of Paris yesterday. The correspondent says that the general’s supporters are working to give the occasion great prominence.
