CONVERSION OF REUTER'S

AMENDED ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATE

LONDON, March 4. At an extraordinary general meeting of Reuter’s Ltd. final steps were taken to convert Reuter’s into a world news agency under the ownership and control of the newspapers of the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. New articles of association have been adopted by representatives of the Press Association and the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, and it has been arranged for the Australian Associated Press and the New Zealand Press Association also to become parties to the Reuter Trust, and the necessary amendments in the trust deed have been approved by the Lord Chief Justice of England, Viscount Caldecote.

The newly-constituted Reuter Trust consists of the following:—Sir Lynden Macassey (independent* chairman, appointed by the Lord Chief Justice), Colonel J. J. Astor (‘ The Times ’), Sir William Bailey (‘Westminster Press.’ provincial newspaper), Viscount Camrose (‘Daily Telegraph’), Mr A. G Cousins (‘Daily Herald’), Mr A. McLean Ewing (‘Glasgow Herald’), Mr James Henderson (‘ Belfast Newsletter ’), Mr Allan Jeans (‘ Liverpool Daily Post’), Viscount Kemsley (Kemsley Newspapers), Sir Cecil Leys (Auckland ‘ Star,’ representing New Zealand), and Sir Keith Murdoch (Melbourne ‘ Herald,’ representing Australia). The new Reuter Board consists of the following directors:—Mr H. G. Bartholomew (‘Daily Mirror’), Mr Malcolm Graham (‘ Wolverhampton Express and Star ’), Mr H. R. Grime (‘ West Lancashire Evening Gazette ’), Mr R. A'.'G. Henderson (‘ Sydney Morning Herald.’ representing Australia and New Zealand), Lord Layton (‘News Chronicle’), Viscount Rothermere (‘Daily Mail’), and Mr J. R. Scott (‘ Manchester Guardian ).
