RELATIVES SEEK REPARATIONS £20,000,000 DEMANDED (Rec. 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 18. The Australian Prisoner of War Relatives’ Association has asked the Federal Government to demand £20,000,000 reparations from Japan as payment for sufferings, death and. sickness in Japanese prison camps. The association has ashed the Prime Minister, Mr J. B. Chifley, for £I,OOO for every prisoner held by the Japanese, £1,500 for minor disabilities, £2,000 for major disabilities, and £3,000 for the next of kin of those dead through ill-treatment.
