IMPORTANCE TO ENGLAND STRESSED (Bee. 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 30. The Ministry of Education announced the abolition of compulsory registration of boys and girls aged 16, which was introduced in December, 19-11, to encourage young people to join youth organisations in order to equip themselves for citizenship and play their part iu the war effort. Miss Ellen .Wilkinson, however, in a circular to local education authorities, urges them to ensure that every boy and girl is personally interviewed before leaving school and given the of joining a suitable youth group, or taking up some other leisure-time interest.
