VISITORS PLEASED

SUCCESS OF BOWLING TOURNAMENT TRIBUTES TO DUNEDIN GREENS Players froiii the north, and particularly those from the North. Island, were greatly impressed with the quality of the greens ou which they played in Dunedin during the course of the New Zealand championship bowling tournament; Mr C."G. Spearman, the skip of the Ohristchurch 11.5. A. team which won the fours championship, went so far as to say that the various greens here were the finest on which he had ever played. Coming from a player of Mr Spearman's calibre, that was a very high tribute, but there were others, too, who held the same opinion. Bome did not go quite as far in their praise, but the opinion of most was that all round a better set of greens for championship purposes could not have been had in any other part of the country. High tributes were paid by many visitors, too, to the capable manner in which the tournament was conducted and to the arrangements made.for the comfort and convenience of players. The women who accompanied their menfolk to the tournament were not forgotten, and were entertained on several occasions. Warm praise was 1 given b.v many to the work of the Tournament Committee, under the guidance of Mr J. Forster, president of the New Zealand Bowling Council, and to the hardworking secretary, Mr It. S. M. Sinclair, whose efficient methods, energy, and courtesy quickly smoothed over any littie difficulty that arose.
