The New Zealand Club in Cairo, ■which was originally financed by the National Patriotic Fund Board, is now all the money provided hy the board having been repaid. For the past six months the receipts from the sale 1 of goods amounted to £310,976, the profits averaging £3,724 a month. A reserve has been set aside for the restoration of the building to its original condition when it ceases to be U6ed as a club. The policy of the club is to show a profit on tobacco, cigarettes, beer, and merchandise, and a loss on the meals in the "men's dining room, where 1,000 meals are served each day at the lowest prices in Cairo. During the past few weeks the restaurant takings have been £5,500, representing 80,000 meals. Other purchases include cigarettes and merchandise, £8.000; lounge buffets, £4,500; silk stockings. £6\500; and hot water bottles,'£l,soo.
