RIGOROUS ENFORCEMENT OF LIQUOR LAWS URGED [Pee United Press Association.] NELSON,'February 22. The General Synod of the Anglican Church carried a resolution urging the Government to insist on a more rigorous application of the existing licensing laws in' regard both to the Maori and the pakeha. The archbishop and the Bishop of Aotearoa are to convey the synod’s motion, to the Minister o£ Justice. The inadequacy of the religious ministrations in mental and other hospitals was reported on by the Social Problems Committee and referred to the Bench of Bishops with a view to arranging an improved service. The bishops were also asked to set up a representative provincial committee lor public social affairs in order to voice the opinion of the church on publio questions. ■
