THEFT OF LIQUOR
VERDICT OF GUILTY [Per United Press Association.] HAMILTON, February 9. A verdict of guilty of the theft of 109 bottles of beer, 17 bottles of whisky, and one bottle of gin, the property of the Government, was returned at the conclusion of the trial of Jim Braithwaite (30), a mill worker, George Thomas White (34), a bushman, and Alva Vernon M'Minn (28), a labourer, before Mr Justice Blair in the Supreme Court. On further charges of breaking into the police cells at Taumarunui, w'here the liquor was stored, and of receiving stolen liquor the accused were found not guilty. The prisoners were remanded for sentence.
