DUNBACK SCHOOL
SUCCESSFUL REUNION SIXTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY AS SEPARATE ENTITY In recognition of the sixty-third anniversary of the Dunback School a highly successful reunion was held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, last, hundreds of ex-pupils participating. The reunion celebrated the establishment of the school as a separate entity in 1877, before which year it had been combined with the Inch Valley School. The committee in charge of the celebrations was under the control of Mr F. Campbell (chairman), Mr E. Brownlie (registrar), and Mr W. M‘Lew (secretary). Proceedings opened on Thursday with a procession of ex-pupils and the hoisting of the jubilee flag. Mr Campbell, in extending a welcome to those present, outlined the school’s history. Replies to the welcome were given by Mr John Murray, Mr W Ritchie, and Mr W. B. Galloway, after which the Rev; A. H; Nordmeyer, M.P., extended his congratulations on the anniversary of the school and his best wishes for the success of the celebration?; 'A concdftwas given at night. An dpeh-air divine :service was held on Friday afternoon, after which a wreath was laid on the memorial. The roll call was taken and decade photographs made. A ball was held in the evening', more than 200 Couples being present. Saturday was devoted to a picnic held in the domain ; there was a large attendance at this gathering which was favoured by brilliantly fine weather. A sports programme, including a scries of decade races, was held. The celebrations concluded on Saturday night with the holding of a reunion banquet at which 220 persons were present. Many congratulatory messages were received and read.
