GOOD TEMPLARY
The Rescue Lodge, No. 105, met last evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street, when there was a good attendance of members, Sister Mrs Do.naldson, vice-templar, being the presiding officer. Reports were received on the work of the Juvenile Temple, also information that the Guide would be available for distribution at next meeting. The programme was under the direction of the superintendent of educational work, and an interesting evening was spent. Special reference was made to the result of the Licensing Poll, to leading articles in newspapers in reference to the suggestion that the Licensing Poll be abolished, to the redistribution of licenses, and to the provision of alcoholic liquors at tourist resorts. These matters were discussed at length, and members were urged to still persist in the endeavours in the cause of temperance and to oppose the foregoing suggestions. The Star of the South Juvenile Temple met the same evening, when Sister B. Marshall, chief templar, presided over a fine attendance. Four candidates were initiated, and members provided an enjoyable programme.
