[From Odr Oamadd Correspondent.) BASKETBALL. Following are results of basketball matches held on Saturday:— A Grade.—Southern A 17, Waitaki G.H.S. A 16; Oamaru A 22, Enfield A 6: Star A 15, Papakaio A 5. B Grade.—Totara 9, Airedale 9; Oamaru B 12, Star B 5; J. R. M‘Kenzie’s 13, Waitaki G.H.S. B 7. C Grade.—Polytechnic 31, Star D 2; Star C 15, Southern B 14; Papakaio B 15, Oamaru C 5; Totara beat Waitaki G.H.S. by default. WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL BOARD. At the monthly meeting of the Waitaki High School Board grants were acknowledged from the Oamaru Borough Council (£lO 10s), the Waitaki County Council (£5), and the Oamaru Harbour Board (£5 ss). Mr L. V. Bryant was granted 12 mouths’ leave of absence to take a Carnegie Fellowship course at the London Institute of Education. The rector (Mr F. Milner) reported that Dr F. H. Spencer, representing the Carnegie Corporation, had given ap address at the school, and that Mr F. B. Malim, former president of the English Head Masters’ Association, intended to visit the school. Mr P. W. Hargreaves was appointed to take charge of the party of 20 boys to visit Canada. Three debaters from Le Moyne College, United States, are to be the guests of the school next week-end. Mr Milner reported that the recent storm had resulted in further extensive erosion of the foreshore, and five largo raacrocarpa trees had been uprooted. The flooded creek had done much damage to the gardens. Miss J. B. Wilson (principal of the Girls’ School) expressed appreciation of the arrangements made for the school jubilee. Mr J. E. Learning and Miss J. I. Hetheringtou (inspectors) had visited the school, and Miss Hetherington had given instructive lectures, one to the staff, on teaching methods in England, Scotland, and France, and the other to the girls on the Coronation. Graduates at Otago University for 1938 included the following ex-pupils:— Misses P. Jackson, L. Miller. A. Miller, M. Jefferis, A. Thompson, and D. Craig.

RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the North Otago Rugby Union was held last night. A grant of £5 5s - was made to the Referees’ Association. L. B. Morrison was granted a transfer from Albion (Gore) to Old Boys. Eastern Southland confirmed September 20 for the match against North Otago at Gore. The New Zealand Union advised that a Maori trial match would be held at Oamaru on July 9. Mr L. M'Callum. a referee, reported having ordered T. Gray (Maheno) off the field on Satuday.—Gray was suspended, to appear before the committee. —Representative Teams.— The following Town teams have been selected to play Country on Saturday : A Team.—S.
