MEDICAL INSPECTION OF AUSTRALIAN VESSELS [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 25. An edict was issuea by the Health Department to-day requiring ‘vessels from Sydney to anchor in the stream for medical inspection before berthing. It is understood that this order may apply also to Wellington. The purpose is to safeguard _ against a possible recurrence of the infantile paralysis epidemic such as has been prevalent in the Eastern Australian States. The first vessel to be affected will be the Wanganella, duo to-morrow morning from Sydney with 309 passengers, including a large number of delegates and visitors to the Catholic centenary celebrations. Arrangements have been made for a second doctor to assist the Port Health Officer with the medical inspection. , In recent times vessels with ship s doctors aboard have been allowed to berth without delay.
