RINKS CDMPETITIOH WEST HARBOUR WINS T;he rinks competition of the annual tournament of the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association was finished at Logan Park yesterday afternoon, Mrs Thomson’s rink (West Harbour) beating Mrs Adess’s rink (St. Kilda) in the final. The following are details of the afternoon’s play:— —Semi-finals. — Mrs Adess (St. Kilda) 28, Mrs Paterson (Leith) 10. Mrs Paterson scored six on the first two heads but did not gain any further points until the eleventh, when the score was 21—9. On the seventeenth she scored a single and the game was abandoned. Mrs Thomson (West Harbour) 21, Miss Mee (St. Clair) 20. Miss Mee scored on the first four heads, and, at the tenth, led 10-5. A four and a three drew Mrs Thomson level at the fourteenth and. scoring was very even over the remaining heads. —Final.— Mrs Columbus, Mrs M'Govern, Mrs Collett, Mrs Thomson (s) 25, Mrs Pryde, Mrs Whitton, Mrs Lister, Mrs Adess (s) 5. The West Harbour rink played with good combination and outclassed its opponent, the game concluding at the seventeenth head. -West Harbour played well up to the head, but the St. Kilda rink was bowling short, leaving the skip a difficult task. She tried to make up with running shots, and with some of these was successful. Mrs Thomson scored 11 on the first six heads, and Mrs Adess made her first score, a two, on the seventh. She secured another two on the thirteenth and the score was 21-4. Mrs Thomson sppred four on the next two heads and Mrs Adess scored, a single on the seventeenth, then giving up the match.
