(Received October 7, at 12.30 p.m.) Heavy liquidation, mainly from the Continent, caused the markets another depressing day, despite the fact that it is generally considered that trade does not justify the prevailing dejection. Unfortunately the fear of further selling holds buyers back, and speculators are forced to jettison both shares and commodities to meet their losses. Rubber slumped to the lowest price this year.
