Monterey left Auckland on October 1 for Sydney, where she arrived on October 4, and Melbourne, where she arrvied to-day. She is to leave Melbourne on October 11 and Sydney on October 16 for Auckland, where she is due on October 18. Niagara is to leave Auckland on October 19 for Sydney, where she is due on October 23. Awatea is to leave Sydney to-mor-row for Wellington, whore she is due on October 11. She will leave Wellington on October 15 for Sydney, where she is expected on October 18. Karetu sailed on September 23 for Newcastle, Sydney, and Hobart to load for Bluff, Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, thence Newcastle. She commenced loading at Newcastle on September 29, cleared Sydney on October 1, was to clear Hobart on Tuesday, and is due here about October 12. Mariposa is to leave San Francisco on October 13 and Los Angeles the following day for Auckland and Sydney via Honolulu (October 18), Pago Pago (October 23), and Suva (October 26). She, is due at Auckland on October 29, at Sydney on November 1) and at Melbourne on November 4. Aorangi is to leave Vancouver on October 27 for Sydney, where she is due on November 20 via Victoria, B.C. (October 27), Honolulu (November 3), Suva (November 12), and Auckland (November 16). She will leave Auckland on November 20. LIMERICK AT AUCKLAND. The Union Company’s motor ship Limerick reached Auckland from Los Angeles via Papeete and the Cook Islands on Tuesday. She will later complete discharge at Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australia, and is duo hero on October 20. BARQUES FOR AUCKLAND. One of two French barques expected to visit Auckland with guano cargoes from the Seychelles Group, the Pamir, is presumed to be at present loading at the islands. No cabled advice has yet been received at Auckland of her departure, but she is expected to leave before the middle of this month on her voyage, which should take at least GO days. The Pamir, of 2,799 tons gross, carried timber from the Baltic to South Africa, after taking part in last season’s grain race from Australia to England, her passage from Port Lincoln to Falmouth being 98 days. After discharge of the timber she was scheduled to sail for Mahe, in the Seychelles. She should arrive at Auckland late in December.

The second unit of Captain Gustav Erikson’s famous Finnish sailing fleet scheduled to visit Auckland, the barque Penang, 2,091 tons gross, will load in the Seychelles between October and November. She is expected in New Zealand toward the end of January. PERSONAL. Captain J. E. Warwick took command of the Kalingo at Sydney, relieving Captain W. H. D. Gardner, who is now awaiting orders at Auckland. Mr C. W. Dovey is now second officer of the Rangatira, vice Mr J. C. Sadleir, who has transferred to the Waiana in a similar capacity. Mr H. M. Hughes is now second officer of the Waimarino. Mr R. R. Russell has Joined the Aorangi as junior third officer, relieving Mr D. J. George, who is now senior third officer, relieving Mr C. A. Woods for holidays. Mr A. W. Rabbits has been appointed chief officer of the Kiwitea, relieving Mr L. Gillan for holidays. Mr H. J. Petty has joined the Wingatui as second officer. Mr B. H. Young is now second officer of the Kaimiro. SILVERELM FROM BUNBURY. ; The Silver Line motor ship Sliverelm is_ due at Auckland about October 20 with hardwood from Bunbury. She will later complete discharge at W«l* lington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. NEW DUTCH SHIPS. On October 14, when the liner Nieuw Zeeland will be at Singapore, Purser C. J, Keukelaar will leave for Holland by K. plane. Reaching Haarlem on October 19, he will remain on leave till May, when he will sail for Java in the new motor ship Buys, one of three new 17,000-ton motor ships being constructed by the K.P.M. line for the Shanghai to Capetown service. The Ruys, which will be launched in December, in Holland, will have a speed of 17 knots. IRON MONARCH SOLD. Now in port at Newcastle, the steel screw" steamer Iron Monarch, which has been a frequent visitor to Melbourne, has been sold by Inter-State Steamships Ltd., of Sydney, to Madrigal and Co., of Manila. Built ait Sunderland in 1913, the Iron Monarch, which was formerly the Koolonga, has a gross tonnage of 4,200.

YUGOSLAV SHIP FOR GEELONG. In less than two months’ time the first Yugoslav steamer ever to come to Victoria in the memory of shipping authorities will discharge several thousand tons of sulphur at Geelong. The ship is the Ivan Topic, and will sail from Ancona, Italy, shortly with a full cargo of sulphur for Fremantle, Port Lincoln, and Geelong. It was originally the Ronda, and was built in 1920 at South Shields for the Bowring S.S. Co., of •London. The vessel is 385 ft long, has a beam of 63.6 ft, and a gross tonnage of 4,943, which makes it the largest of the seven ships of the fleet of the Slobodna Plovidba Topic D.D., of Susak. It is one of the largest Yugoslav ships, as the fleet of 177 vessels comprises mostly small steamers and motor vessels. NAVIGATION WARNING. A Press Association message from Wellington states that the following

navigation warning was broadcast by a Sydney radio station at 10.10 last night:—“ A floating log, partly submerged and dangerous to navigation, has been reported.
