BUDAPEST STRING QUARTET
CONCERT ON THURSDAY The Budapest String Quartet will make its only appearance in Dunedin in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Thursday. The National Broadcasting Service has arranged this concert by these famous artists. The admission charges will be 2s (reserved) and Is, with no tax and no booking fee. A few seats are available at 3s. Rarely is string quartet _ playing heard in New Zealand, and it is expected that the Concert Chamber will be packed. Writing ef the quartet’s performance, 1 The Times,’ London, said: “ Mozart was played with a rare freshness, fluency being preferred to the hesitations which extremely pointed playing must involve, and, though the detail of ornament was never neglected, it was happily free from over-sophistication.” Assisting these artists will he Miss Mary Pratt, contralto. The box plan is now open at Begg’s. The proceeds will be given to tho Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund.
