INSTRUCTIONS TO ENGINEER The city engineer has been instructed by the Works Committee to act in the following matters: — Sealing portion of the footway in Shetland street, north side, above Chapman street. Estimated' cost £l6. Effecting improvements to fencing in Shetland street, north side, above Chapman street. Estimated cost £lO. Constructing kerbing and channelling in Shetland street, south side, between Mount street and Ethel street, and regrading carriageway. Estimated cost £l5O. . Battering back a bank in portion ot Musselburgh Rise. Estimated cost £ls. Widening portion of Crosby street where land has been dedicated for the purpose. Estimated cost of the work, including excavation, walling, screenings, footway, and alterations to services. and allowing for scheme 5 labour, £154. Removing a bank in portion of Melrose street where Hand has been dedicated for widening the street. ’ Estimated cost, providing for scheme 5 labour, £45. (This work is conditional upon the property owner agreeing to build a wall on the new alignment to support the bank.) The matter of laying tarred macadam on the footway on the north side of Macandrew road, between Bradshaw street and Forbury road (estimated cost £200), is to be recorded for consideration when next year’s estimates are being made.
