OBITUARY

MRS JANE CLARK [FaOSt OUE COEEESPONDENT.I CROMWELL, July 4. One of the old school of sturdy pioneers, in the person of Mrs Jane Clark, passed away at her home. Burn Cottage, Cromwell, on Thursday night. Mrs Clark, who was in her sixtyninth year, was brought up as a child at the Roaring Meg, and . later with her husband too’k up land at Bum Cottage, near Lowburn. She was left a widow during the 1918 epidemic, with a family of 16 children, the youngest of which, was then only three years old. Mr* Clark for many years carried .on s milk run into Cromwell, and was a hard working, industrious woman, who always insisted in giving a hand with' the hay during hay-making. \ She took a most active part in aQ public affairs at Lowburn Ferry. Eight' sons and seven daughters remain t« mourn the loss of a good mother, ,'
