PIPE BAND
ANNUAL REUNION
A pleasant) evening was spent by those who attended the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band’s annual reunion held in Wilson Hall on Saturday evening. The president (Mr J. Hope) occupied the chair. ' The toast list was as follows “ The Army, Navy, and Air Force, proposed by Mr R. Burns and responded to by Sergeant-major Johnston, Mr H. L. Paterson, and Sergea: tmaior M’Kenzie; “ Kindred Societies, proposed by Mr T. GilchnsF and responded to by Messrs A. M Millan (Council of Scottish Cocieties), W. K. Cameron (Gaelic Society), T. Ritchie (Caledonian Society), N. Stewart (Dunedin Burns Club), W. P. Smith (Scottish Society), A. Wheeler (Piping and Dancing Association), J. Brown (St. Andrew’s Society), J. O. Hunter (Dunedin Contest Committee), and representatives of several sister _ pipe bands; “Dunedin City Corporation, proposed by Mr J. M‘Donald and responded to by Mr J. Douglas; “Dunedin Pipe Band,’’ proposed by Mr N. Stewart and responded to by the chairman and ex-members; and “ Honorary Members,” proposed by Pipe-major Walker. During the evening the president presented the various trophies won during tbo year. The band s banner presented by ex-Pipc major M'Callum was given into the custody of Pipe-, major Walker. The Hope Cup was presented to Drum-corporal Lament and the Thomson Cup to Pipers J. M‘Vean and J. Hill. Enjoyable items were contributed by Messrs G. Snell, G. Wiseman, A. Macdonald, and W. Munro (songs), and Pipe-major Stratton and Piper K. Cameron (bagpipe selections).
