DUNEDIN REGATTA CLUB

FIXTURE POSTPONED TILL MARCH A special meeting of the Dunedin Regatta Club ■ last night decided to hold the annual regatta on Saturday, March 7. Mr S. G. Styche was in the chair. - Mr W. Young moved: “ That the resolution carried at a previous meeting to hold the annual regatta on February Ibe rescinded.” He mentioned the fact that the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s Meeting would be held on February 1, and a ( number of people who desired to patronise rowing would undoubtedly attend the races. The Regatta Committee had _ increased the prize money, and in view .of this fact desired to make the fixture' an even greater success than it was last year. Taking everything into consideration, he thought the. committee would be wise to postpone the regatta to* a later date. Mr Styche pointed out that the committee had not been aware that a race meeting would be held when it was decided to hold the regatta on February 1. He was of the opinion that the committee would be doing the right thing to postpone'the regatta to a later date, especially from a financial point of view. Mr Young’s motion was carried. Mr E. W. Pidkford moved: “That the regatta be held on Saturday, March 7.” The motion was carried. It was decided that the first race (the single sculls) start at 1.45, and the second event (the maiden double sculls) at 2. Six new members were elected.
