MINERS CONSIDERING POSITION AGGREGATE MEETINGS TO BE HELD Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, January 5. The Miners’ Council to-day endorsed the decisions of the conference of mining unions to hold aggregate meetings on all coalfields throughout Australia on Wednesday to decide whether the miners are in favour of a general stoppage in sympathy with tho striking seamen. If the vote is in favour of a stoppage the production of coal will probably cease on Friday, EFFORT TO EXTEND STRIKE TO TRANSPORT UNIONS ' SYDNEY, January 6. The Minors’ Council agreed to try to extend tho strike to land and marine transport unions, and a special subcommittee was appointed to interview the officials of those organisations to seek their co-operation. (Received January 6, at II a.m.) Referring to the recommendation for a mining strike, Mr Menzies (AttorneyGeneral) said tho miners were making a grave mistake if they thought the policy of tho Federal Ministry would be altered by threats. ADELAIDE, January 6. , (Received January 6, at 11 a.m.) With the departure of the freighter Murada with a full volunteer crew from Port Adelaide after five idleness, the last of the laid-up ships in South Australia have been recommissioned.
