STARTLING DEVELOPMENTS

COOGEE AQUARIUM MYSTERY A MAN ARRESTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, May 17. Startling developments are expected to follow investigations by detectives into the death of James Smith, aged 40,, a billiard marker, of Gladesville, whose tattooed arm was disgorged by a shark at the Coogee aquarium on April 25. A man has been arrested on a minor charge and is now being interrogated concerning his movements on April 8. The police were inclined to believe that Smith .was accidentally drowned when fishing with a companion about that date, and that the body was afterwards devoured by a shark which was subsequently caught for exhibition purposes. Later events cast doubt on this theory, with the result that a new line of investigation, was begun, leading to tho arrest of the man now in custody.
