WRESTLING

KROSKAMP V. HARBARES ' The wrestling season in Dunedin should be given-an auspicious opening on Monday evening, wqen two spectacular wrestlers will meet in the Town Hall, under the auspices of the Otago Association. They are Leo Narbares,' a grappler of French extraction, and Hardy Kruskamp, an athlete whose reputation in track and field events, and also in the ring, is not confined to his native America. Both men are young, extremely fit; and have excellent mat records. They both belong to the modern school of wrestling, which is characterised by- fast, open work, as opposed to the tight or close up type of wrestling. The introduction of the flying tackle, drop kick, airplane spin, and similar holds has made the sport more spectacularly thrilling, and Kruskamp and Narbares both exploit these holds to the fullest extent. It is doubtful if two such perfectly developed men have appeared before in the wrestling ring at the same time. Kruskamp particularly should be admired by patrons, and his reputation of being the fastest American wrestler should be an excellent guarantee that followers of the sport will not be disappointed. He will require to exert himself to the fullest extent to gain the decision from the clever Narbares, who wrestled him to a draw at their first meeting at Wellington some two weeks ago. This contest sporting writers of the northern city have characterised as one of the cleanest and best ever witnessed m that city. No sport is probably more entertaining, more brimful of thrills, or more sensational than is modern wrestling, and next Monday’s match should be an excellent contest. The four amateur preliminaries will be of the usual high standard. Patrons are reminded that the box plan is now open; particulars of which are advertised.
