GERMAN BALLOON ASCENT
— SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT FATAL ENDING Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright BERLIN, May 15. (Received May 16, at 1 a.m.) Germany’s biggest balloon ascended from Bitterfeld on Sunday morning for the purpose of measuring the intensity of the sun’s rays in the substratosphere. It was found wrecked on Monday afternoon near Dunaberg on the Russo-Latvian frontier. . The mangled body of Herr Masuch, the meteorologist, was nearby. The fate of the other occupant (Dr Schrcnck) is not known. PILOT’S BODY FOUND. . MOSCOW, May 15. (Received May 16, at. 10 a.m.) The body of the pilot (Dr Schrenck) was found eleven miles from the wreck. The state of the instruments indicated that the balloon crashed at midnight on Sunday.
