WOMAN RESCUED UNCONSCIOUS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 2. Shortly after 9 o’clock to-night two young women hired a taxi to go to a house in College street, and on arrival there one of them went inside, oujy to rush out a few minutes later stating that the house was full of gas and that a girl had gassed herself in one of the rooms. ‘ The driver sent the two women for the police, and he himself entered the house, where he found a young woman lying on the floor of the kitchen with her head in a gas oven. Dragging the unconscious woman outside, he attempted artificial respiration, and after twenty minutes she showed slight signs of consciousness. The ambulance was sent for and she was admitted to the hospital. • It is understood that the woman’s life is not in danger. She is believed to be a resident of Motueka.
