EARL BIRKENHEAD TRADITION

CRAY'S IHH GARRIES OH The memory of the late Earl of Birkenhead, vho was a bencher of. Gray's Inn, was hoioured at the Hall of the Inn on December 14, when two loving cups, twelve silver, tankards, and a smith’s hammer in silver were presented for use- in' the benchers’ room. The Inn’s collection of tankards, now numbering sixty or seventy, was started by the late Lord Birkenhead, who persuaded friends he entertained at the Inn to add to the collection. The loving cups are of the finest hand craftsmanship, and bear the Birkenhead :oat of arms.
