There was a large attendance of members at the last fortnightly meeting of Court - Pride of the Leith, the C.R., Bro. W. A. Nelson, being in the chair. The meeting opened in mourning in memory of Bros. J.’Hay aid G. M‘Kenzie (both old members), who had passed away at Gisborne and Christchurch respectively since the last meeting. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late members was carried in silence. The four senior officers were deputed to represent the court at the fifty-ninth anniversary meeting of Court St. Andrew’s. The welcome to the visitors was given by the C.K., and was responded to by PC.R. Bro. A. S. Dyke, lor Court King Edward’s Pride, and Bro. Sheridan responded for Court Pride of Dunedin. Several of the older members received a special welcome, and P.C.R. Bro. J. T. E. Witcball returned thanks. During the meeting four new members were admitted and two nominations for membership were accepted. Following the meeting a progressive euchre tournament, married versus single members was carried out, the winners heiiig Bro. A. Scott and P.C.R. Bro. E. Craig. The fortnightly meeting of Court Bruce was held at the Masonic Hall, Milton, and was attended by a fair gathering of members, with C.R. Bro. \Vi Nimmo presiding. P.C.R. Bro. J. Begg (auditor) presented the half) yearly and annual balance-sheets tor the past year.' ami expressed satisfaction on tile continued .progress shown by- the court through difficult times. T he’, financial position had been well maintained, but he regretted the membership had not shown an increase. He strongly urged members, to support their own’society, and this year, being the celebration ot the centenary oi the order, every effort should be made to greatly increase their numbers. Bro. Begg paid' tribute to the excellent services rendered by the secretary and treasurer to the court- ■ ihe balancesheets were adopted, and the complimentary references made were suitably' acknowledged. Tl:e Secretary stated that several unemployed members had considerably benefited by having their contributions paid horn the district benevolent fund. A welcome was extended to Bro. Haydock, of Court Thistle of , the Forest (Christchurch), the youngest officer of that court, who replied to the visitors’ toast. In the absence of the C.R., Bro. 1 G. D. Hay. Bro. S. Wood presided at the fifty-seventh ‘ anniversary of • Court Excelsior. Invitations from Court. St'. Andrews •to attend its__ anniversary meeting and from Court King Edward s Pride to participate in the semi-finals of its euchre tournament were accepted. Six courts and the district executive paid aii official visit. The C.R., Bro. S; Wood, proposed the toast, to the District Executive and the S.C.R. (Bro. Oldham) the toast of the visiting courts. The following replied ou behalf of their courts:—Court Enterprise (Bro. J. P. Patton), Pride of Dunedin (Bro. T. Payton), Queen of Green Island (Sister Robertson.), Woodlands Pride (Sister Lochart), King Edwards Pride (Bro. Barclay), St. Andrews (Bro. M‘Keitch), Little John (Bro. Thomson). District Executive (D.C.B. Bro. Vercoe). Ouc new member was proposed for admission.
