VIVID YET AMUSING

1 BIG BRAIN ' AT OCTAGON TO-MORROW * Smith’s Weekly ’ said the following concerning ‘ The Big Brain,’ which will be shown at the Octagon to-morrow: “ A pantoum of high-pressure, bearing a barber-hero to the peaks of finance and back to barbering—in gaol —again. The principal role, and the centre of energy for the whole picture, is played by an actor who has hitherto performed merely as a background type —George E. Stone. “ In this, his first important part, he rises to the occasion splendidly. The vitality with which he invests the figure of the stock-and-share adventurer enlists sympathy, despite the conventions villainy of the role. The film has all the vivid interest associated with the business careers of the Wallingford® and the Bottomleys. “ The narrative is told tersely and with sharp touches of satire. The acting is uniformly excellent. Some of the situations appear unlikely; but many incredible things have become authentic in the actual history of the type dissected. An interesting and amusing picture which should establish Stone as a specialist in the field already occupied by Edward G. BobiuS °"'The Sport Parade,’ which will also be shown, is.the kind of picture that uses action not words, to tell its story.

Its type of diversion can to wholeheartedly recommended to entertain, ment-seekers slightly wearied of fulldress drawing room drama. : .
