Under the auspices of the Friends of the Soviet Union and in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of tiie death of Lenin, Mr M. Silverstone spoke in the. Harrop Street Hall on Sunday on the subject, ‘ Lenin, the Greatest Proletarian Leader Since Marx.’ The speaker commenced by saying: “Every period has its great men and women. The great men and women are those who help to bring about revolutionary changes in thought or action. Such men as C:esar, Aristotle, Euclyd, Plato, Bruno, GaHileo. Cromwell. Shakespeare, Robespierre, Danton, Voltaire, Marx, Engels. Benin, and two who are still with ns—G. B. Shaw and L. Trotsky—wore great men. Mr Silverstone went on to refer to Lenin’s career from boyhood am! the part he played in the Bolshevik regime.
