A BOY’S DEATH. BURIED IX FALL OF SANDSTONE. A sad' fatality occurred at Maitaitihi to-day. Two small boys, Ivan Milburn, aged eleven, and Trank Flanagan, aged eight, whose parents reside at Auckland, were spending a holiday, with their uncle, Mr A. I. M'Guire, manager of the tung oil plantation at Dargaville. l They were playing in a road cutting about 14ft deep when, without warning, portion of the bank of sandstone came away, burying both completely. Four men working alongside immediately went to the rescue. They extricated the boy Flanagan, who was apparently killed instantlyand Milburn was recovered a few minutes after and rushed to the doctor and hospital, where it was found that his injuries were not so serious as was at first thought, and he is now progressmg favourably. The cause of the accident was unaccountable, as the bank had been standing for twelve months, and was well propped and appeared quite! safe.—Press Association. FARM LABOURER FOUND DEAD. Ernest Weiner, a farm labourer, single, of Pukekohe Hill, believed to be of Swiss descent, was found dead on the roadside this morning, with a shotgun near the body. It was later discovered that a fire had destroyed Werner a hut. The deceased suffered from illhealth.—Press Association.
