HANDBAG FASHIONS

We have had bags with matching scarves; bags with berets, bows, or belts. To-day they sometimes go further still (states a London correspondent). An exceedingly neat bag, in navy blue and crimson closely knitted silk, is matched by a tiny scarf with pointed ends, and cuffs in the same material and colours. These would make eminently effective refreshers for a suit of simple woollen dress in navy blue. A smallish bag, in beige and coral plaited leather, calls for a belt of coral leather made of two round straps fastened together at intervals by metal clasps. Another round coral strap is worn as a necklace and weighted with metal knobs at its ends. A very lovely bag to give a strong note of colour to a sombre ensemble is made of plaited straw in a glowing shade of red. The straw is used in greater width than is usual for plaiting, and its shining surface gives an almost iridescent effect. This particular model is not for knockabout wear or impoverished incomes. It fastens with a jewelled clasp.
