Writing to a friend in Christchurch from Singapore, under date of December 17 last, Mr Julian B. Foster, who was for some years American Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, stated that he had now taken up his duties as American Trade Commissioner in the Malay Archipelago, with headquarters at Singapore. Mr E. Lane, of the Whangarei staff of the New Zealand Insurance Company Ltd., has received notice-of his .transfer to Kobe, Japan, and will sail from Auckland next week. ’ "
A British official wireless message from Rugby, states that the King has approved the ; appointment of ,Mr Thomas Joseph Morris, His Majesty’s Consul-General at Strasbourg, to be envoy-extraordinary and Minister-, plenipotentiary at La Paz (Bolivia). Mr J. W. 'Walker, who has been, appointed clerk of works during the erection of the new post office, is expected to arrive in Dunedin to-night. Mr Walker was in charge of the rehabilitation of public buildings in Napier and Hastings.
