Sir James Allen, M.L.C., left for Wellington this morning. Mr P. A. de La Perrelie, M.P., came from Invercargill this morning by tram and went on for Wellington. Dr Iverach. was farewelled on the station this morning. He proceeded to Christchurch to-day, and will go north this week to embark for London, where be is to pursue post-graduate study. Mr G. W. Reid left this morning to attend a sitting of the Railway Board in Wellington. Mr F. Cullen, stationmaster at Invercargill, passed through Dunedin this morning on his way to Auckland. Mr J. C. H. Somerville was a passenger for Wellington by the 11.35 train to-day. ~ , Mr T. Ritchie, booked for Auckland, was a passenger by the express this morning. Mr Amos M‘Kegg loft by the 11.3 a train to-day for Wellington. Mr Isaac Stevenson travelled to Christchurch by train to-day. Mr B. Cuddie, who lias been visiting Dunedin, started this morning for his home in Wellington. Messrs F. Waite, K. H. Murney, and C. R. Sheat went by train to-day to Oaraaru to hold a sitting of Hie Mortgagors’ Adjustment Commission. _ Dr K. Ross, who took part in tba New Zealand golf tourney at Auckland, returned to Dunedin this afternoon. At the meeting of the Dunedin Bowling Centre last night the chairman referred to the illness of the president (Mr E. T. G. Falconer), and expressed the hope for a speedy recovery. The secretary was instructed to write expressing the sympathy of the centre with Mr Falconer. Votes of condolence were passed with Sir Arthur Ellis in the death of his wife, and with the relatives of Mr E. Holmes, whose death had occurred recently. At a congregational meeting of the Timaru Chalmers Presbyterian Church it was unanimously decided to extend a call to the Rev. E. Llewlyn Williams,' 8.A., 155th street Presbyterian Church, New York, and formerly of Loudon, Brighton, and Liverpool.—Press Association. “His death must be regarded as a national loss,” said Deputy-mayor A. D. Edgar, in moving a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of Mr H.E. Holland, at last night’s meeting of the St. Kilda Council. “Mr Holland earned the respect of all sections of the community, and In’s death has robbed us of a great humanitarian.” Councillors stood in. silence in memory of the deceased. At its monthly meeting last night the Chamber of Commerce passed the following resolution:—“This chamber desires to express its sincere sympathy with Mrs H. E. Holland and family in the great loss they have suffered by the death of a devoted husband and father. The late Mr Holland was for many years an outstanding personality in New Zealand politics, of a studious and forceful character, courteous and sincere, and, whether we agree with his politics or not, we recognise that Parliament has lost a representative who was courageous and honest in his endeavours to carry into effect what lie considered was in the best interests of the cause which he so ably espoused.”As a mark of respect the members remained standing for a few moments.
