GOLD MINING

By way of finishing off the education of those young men who are enterprising enough to go into the back country and search for gold, Mr T. E. Roche, a capable lecturer and demonstrator, will give lessons in “ panning off ” at the St. Andrew street depot to-morrow morning. The proceedings will start at 9 o’clock, when Mr Roche will address those ‘present on some of the problems that will confront beginners, and will give useful advice on prospecting. The Mayor (Mr R. S. Black) is receiving a good many requests for equipment for prospectors. At the present time there is nothing on hand, and he would be glad to receive donations of this nature.
