Mrs Daley, with her two children, was driving a horse in a sulky on a country road at Cooyal, when the horse stumbled and threw the family out. Mrs Daley’s foot, however, became wedged between the step and the side of the vehicle, and the horse bolted, dragging her, head downwards, for four miles. Mrs Daley,’s head was smashed to pulp, and she was dead when extricated.
