MOTOR FATALITY. At about 3 o’clock this morning a’ motor accident resulted in the death of Val Hewitt, aged nineteen, a bookbinder. The driver was Stewart Bramwell, arid the other occupants Dalai Hewitt, sister of the deceased, and Madge Howell. The party was. returning from a dance at the Stanway, School! Bramwell states that he must have dozed off, awakening to find the car on the wrong side of the road 10yds from the Mangaone bridge. Ho endeavoured to swing the. car to the centre of the road, but the side of it struck the bridge and was badly damaged. The deceased was apparently killed instantly. Miss Howell was removed to the hospital suffering from cuts about the face. Bramwell sustained minor injuries.—Palmerston North Press Association telegram. MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. Yesterday afternoon a motor can driven by C. E. S. Gane, collided with' a motor cycle ridden by a young man named A. Sharplin, on the Omokoroa road. Sharplin was thrown against tho hood of the car and rendered unconscious. He was conveyed to the hospi-, tal. His condition is serious. Airs Elizabeth Reid, aged 57 years,, died suddenly at her residence, Leith’ Valley, last night as the result of ai seizure. She had been attended by h doctor, and an inquest will not be necessary.
