THE MISSION HOUSE
At a meeting of social workers, held some months ago, several of the organisations represented ’promised to make no general appeal for funds, etc., during the time that the Chamber or Commerce was canvassing for funds for the mayor’s depot. As a result of this understanding the Mission House authorities have refrained from putting forth their claims for public support. In consequence of the closing down of the mayor’s and other depots an everincreasing number of requests is being made for assistance, and without immediate help being forthcoming these cannot be met. As one means towards helping the Rev. Bryan King in his work the Ocean Beach Scouts _ intend canvassing St. Kilda, for donations of clothing, groceries, and vegetable® on Monday next. During the many years of its existence the Mission House lias always been accorded a generous measure of support, and those in charge of it feel, sure that such will be the result at the present time, now that the wants are made known. The call for aid is addressed to the public generally. and not only to .those living in St. Kilda. The smallest donations in money, clothing, or foodstuffs will be gratefully received at the office behind St, Paul’s Cathedral.
